Forget luxuries like travel insurance, GPS, petrol stations and the internet. He was on his own. The first of his kind. Maps were greyed out with unchartered lands, some countries didn\u2019t even have petrol let alone petrol stations or repair shops and inter-what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, an adventure rider\u2019s biggest worry is often their next Instagram post, back then they had revolvers tucked in their belts and fought off bandits. It was a different world and these dogged and brave few were the first to discover it. These are the tales of pioneers. The first men and women to traverse the globe on two-wheels, paving the way for the rest of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Included bags not very durable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Windscreen fixed and not adjustable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have to buy different bag mounts if you want hard cases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If you\u2019re planning on riding to the Alps and start your trip in the west of Germany, be well-prepared.<\/p>\n<cite>Tina D.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>During the power stroke, gas pressure pushes the piston downward but the angle of the connecting rod, transmitting that force to the rotating&nbsp;crankshaft, pushes the piston quite firmly against the rear cylinder wall. Then on compression, the resistance of the fuel-air mixture to being compressed above the piston again acts through the connecting rod, which is now angled to press the piston against the&nbsp;<em>front<\/em>&nbsp;cylinder wall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The clouds hung low and swallowed the mountains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During a short break \u2013 it was raining, again &#8211; on the shore of the K\u00f6nigsee I let my fingers wander over the map while pressing my knees against the warm engine. The clouds hung low and swallowed the mountains. I did not really feel like it, but I buried the plan to steer the GS through the high mountains. If there was enough clearance to prevent seizure in the piston ring belt, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/templaza.com\">the resultant clattering produced cracking<\/a><\/em> and piston breakup. If the clearance were reduced to prevent that, the pistons seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer was to have its pistons made by a specialist firm that had the dedicated production equipment to make oval pistons with the necessary two-stage taper. Gilera chose Borgo, who remains in the piston business to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Road speeds are slow in Vietnam.
